For this group assignment we had to choose a wicked problem, meaningĀ a problem that is complex and does not have one clear solution. Being the only all-female group, we decided to rebrand feminism to be more welcoming and inclusive and to combat the bad connotations often associated with it. We decided to focus on fourth-wave feminist theory, called intersectionalism. Intersectionalism is the idea that feminism is not just about women, but all people, including men and women of all races and LGBTQ+ peoples, and that other systems of oppression, domination, or discrimination intersect to affect and influence sexism. My group decided to name our movement Intersectional and we started by creating a logo and brand identity for the movement. Our logo was created using a Celtic knot for inspiration to represent unity. We based ourĀ color palette around varying skintones to represent diversity. We also created posters, advertisements, social media accounts, and various other ephemera. These pieces would be placed around college campuses to encourage young people to get involved with the movement.
